We offer Finnish customers knives that earn their place on the belt, in the pocket or on the kitchen worktop – for many years to come. We don’t sell throwaway goods.
The Knife Shop was born out of a simple frustration: too many knives bought online looked good in the photo but failed on first use. Soft steel, poorly hardened blades, tangs that worked loose in the handle after a few weeks. We wanted to do things differently.
We’ve put together a range in which every knife has first passed through our own hands – cutting, carving, skinning and standing up to real use, not just a shop display. The Knife Shop is a place for those who understand that a good knife is a tool and a companion, not an ornament.
Expertise and How We Build the Range
Our range isn’t put together by flicking through a wholesale price list. Every model goes through the same sieve: who forged it, from which steel and for what purpose. We weed things out ruthlessly – if a knife offers no clear advantage, it doesn’t make it onto the shelf.

Materials, Blades and Testing
The steel is what makes the difference. We favour high-carbon and stainless steels whose hardening sits in a sensible range – typically 58–61 HRC. A blade that’s too soft goes blunt quickly, while one that’s too hard chips. The right balance gives an edge that lasts and that you can bring back with simple home methods.
With Damascus blades we don’t settle for the pattern alone. True layered steel is forge-welded from several steels, so the result combines a hard cutting edge with a tough spine. We check that the pattern was created by forging and not imitated by etching the surface.

Behind the Knife Shop stands a group of people for whom knives are not just a business but a way of life. The core of our team has spent more than fifteen years around knives – out hunting, on wilderness trips, alongside workshops and at the sharpening bench. We know the difference between Japanese and Nordic steel.
We don’t keep that experience to ourselves. Every product description, recommendation and answer is grounded in real use, not the manufacturer’s marketing copy. When you ask us for advice, the reply comes from someone who has used the knife in question themselves.
